John Lydell Tyler, a 28-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on March 31, 2019, in Laredo, Texas. Tyler, a decorated soldier in the Texas Army National Guard, was assigned to Operation Guardian Support in Laredo. He was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen behind an apartment complex in the 4300 block of Santa Maria Avenue. Despite efforts to save him, Tyler succumbed to his injuries at Laredo Medical Center.
