John Lydell Tyler, a 28-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on March 31, 2019, in Laredo, Texas. Tyler, a decorated soldier in the Texas Army National Guard, was assigned to Operation Guardian Support in Laredo. He was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen behind an apartment complex in the 4300 block of Santa Maria Avenue.
