The incident occurred in a case of mistaken identity, where the shooters targeted the home, believing it belonged to a previous tenant. Kamren was struck by a bullet during the drive-by shooting, which involved the use of an AK-47 and a 9mm handgun.
The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects: Sonnie Reyes and Cameron Moore.
Reyes, a rapper known as "East Side Sonnie," was arrested on June 26, 2019, and later pleaded guilty to the murder. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison in April 2022. Moore was arrested in February 2021 and charged with murder. He was found guilty in October 2022 and sentenced to life in prison.
The case highlighted the devastating consequences of gun violence and the importance of community safety. Kamren's family has expressed their gratitude for the convictions but continues to mourn the loss of their young son.
