On June 9, 2019, Kamren Cassius Jones, an 11-year-old African American boy from Channelview, Texas, was tragically shot and killed while sleeping in his bed. The incident occurred in a case of mistaken identity, where the shooters targeted the home, believing it belonged to a previous tenant. Kamren was struck by a bullet during the drive-by shooting, which involved the use of an AK-47 and a 9mm handgun.
