The investigation into Mascorro's death led to the arrest of Jessie Wayne
Robinson Jr., a 27-year-old man from Abilene, Texas. Robinson was identified as a person of interest early in the investigation and was charged with murder on July 9, 2019. He was indicted on suspicion of murder on September 5, 2019. On March 3, 2020, Robinson took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to the murder of Mascorro, receiving a 40-year jail sentence. The plea deal was seen as beneficial for both sides, avoiding the need for a trial and bringing some peace to Mascorro's family.
Additionally, two other individuals, Jennifer Badillo and Daniel Nakeia Diaz, still have pending murder charges related to the case. The investigation remains active, and the San Angelo Police Department has asked anyone with information to come forward.
