Jacob Peterson's cause of death was homicide from a gunshot wound. Christian Muecke, on the other hand, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, indicating a murder-suicide scenario. A shotgun was found at the scene, further supporting this conclusion. Jacob Peterson had graduated from Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School in 2017 and was working at PSC Q3 Construction in Little Canada, Minnesota, alongside his father.
Christian Muecke was a senior at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School at the time of the incident. The community was deeply affected by the tragedy, with crisis teams deployed at the high school to support students and staff.
