On the early morning of March 1, 2014, 20-year-old Nicholas R. Kapusniak, a male student at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, was attending a social gathering in the backyard of a residence in the 2700 block of Accomac Street in St. Louis, Missouri. The event included several of his fraternity brothers and friends who had congregated outside the home. At approximately 1:00 a.m., the group was disrupted when a white sedan drove through the adjacent alleyway.
As the vehicle passed the backyard, an unknown occupant inside the car opened fire on the group of students. Kapusniak was struck by the gunfire during the drive-by shooting, while his friends managed to escape physical injury. He was quickly moved inside the residence, but despite the efforts to assist him, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter and the driver of the vehicle fled the area immediately following the attack, traveling eastbound through the alley and out of sight.
In the years following the homicide, investigators and St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers have continued to seek information regarding the identity of the individuals responsible. The suspect vehicle was described only as a white sedan, possibly occupied by more than one person. Despite significant rewards offered by both CrimeStoppers and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy for information leading to an arrest and conviction, the case has remained unsolved with no specific suspects publicly named or taken into custody.
