Lidio Alcantara, a 36-year-old Latin male from Mexico, tragically lost his life on September 1, 2019, in a drive-by shooting in the 4900 block of Terry Street in East Dallas. Alcantara was working hard to support his family back home, sending money to his wife and child. He was described as a quiet, hardworking individual who kept to himself.
The incident occurred just after 4 p.m.
when a grayish-colored Chevy Captiva, believed to be a 2012 model, drove past the house and briefly stopped before shots were fired. Alcantara was inside the front room of the house when the bullets started flying. He was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Dallas Homicide Detective Jacob White stated that Alcantara was not the intended target of the shooting. The house had already been the site of another murder just ten days prior. Police are searching for at least two suspects: the driver of the vehicle and the shooter, who was seen in the back seat. Surveillance footage shows the car driving past the house, stopping briefly, and then continuing on before making a block and heading southbound on Munger.
Detective White emphasized the importance of public cooperation in solving the case and bringing closure to Alcantara's family. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Despite the fear gripping the neighborhood, White assured potential witnesses that their identities would be protected.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities hopeful that someone will come forward with information to help identify and apprehend those responsible for Lidio Alcantara's death.
