Summary based on 8 sources
Elyn Loera, a 32-year-old woman from Corpus Christi, Texas, went missing in October 2019 after informing her mother that she was traveling to Harlingen to visit her boyfriend, Anthony Eliff III. Elyn's mother, Rosie Loera, reported her daughter's disappearance to the Harlingen police shortly after Elyn went missing. Tragically, Rosie passed away before DNA evidence confirmed that human remains found on February 10, 2020, in a brushy lot west of Business 77 in San Benito, belonged to her daughter. The remains were sent for DNA testing at the University of North Texas, and the results conclusively identified them as those of Elyn Loera.

Although the remains were badly decomposed, authorities had enough information to charge Anthony Eliff III with Elyn's murder. Eliff, who was already in custody at a Cameron County jail on a separate murder charge, was arrested by Harlingen police and the Texas Rangers and charged with Elyn's murder. The indictment stated that Eliff intentionally or knowingly caused Elyn's death by shooting her with a firearm.

Eliff's legal troubles did not end there. He was also accused of the February 6, 2020, shooting death of 41-year-old Guillermo Garcia, who was found inside a parked vehicle with a gunshot wound to the chest. Eliff was sentenced to 75 years in prison for Garcia's murder and 20 years for unlawful possession of a firearm, with the sentences to be served concurrently.

Elyn Loera's case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic violence and the importance of thorough investigations in bringing justice to victims and their families. The loss of Elyn and her mother, Rosie, underscores the profound impact such tragedies have on families and communities.
