Kristopher Dempsey Muldrew, a 20-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on May 19, 2020, in Pflugerville, Texas. He was found deceased at the scene of a shooting at the Autumn Ranch at Swenson Farms apartment complex. The Pflugerville Police Department received a call for service around 11:15 p.m. that night, and upon arrival, they discovered Muldrew with a gunshot wound.
Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following Muldrew's death, a thirteen-month investigation was conducted by the Pflugerville Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division. The investigation led to the arrest of two individuals, Antonio Fennell, 23, and Zytrell Horton, 21, both of whom were charged with first-degree murder. Fennell was arrested in Austin, while Horton was apprehended in Killeen. Additionally, Phillip Lara, 33, was arrested by Round Rock police officers on May 20, 2020, and charged with evading in a motor vehicle, as he was believed to be the driver of a vehicle associated with the shooting.
The case has drawn attention to issues of security and public safety in the area, with discussions on whether negligent security contributed to the shooting. The arrests of Fennell and Horton mark a significant development in the pursuit of justice for Muldrew and his family.
