Thomas Dewayne Scott, a 43-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, was fatally shot on June 20, 2020. He was killed in the parking lot of Sam's 99 Cent Store in East Oak Cliff when he tried to stop someone from stealing his vehicle. Scott had left his car running and unlocked, and when he saw someone trying to drive away with it, he waved at them to stop.
