On August 27, 2020, 16-year-old Fernando Martinez was tragically shot and killed near an outdoor basketball court in Belton, Texas. Fernando, who was known for his cheerful demeanor and love for basketball, was playing at the court when he got into an altercation with another teenager. The dispute escalated, and Fernando was shot twice, succumbing to his injuries later that evening at the hospital.
