On the evening of January 30, 2015, police in St. Louis, Missouri, were dispatched to a scene in the 4100 block of Hull Place following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival at the intersection of Hull and Lee around 7:54 p.m., officers discovered a Pontiac Grand Prix parked near a vacant lot. Inside the running and locked vehicle, they found 23-year-old Dorance Harvey, an African-American male, unconscious in the driver’s seat.
He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses and evidence collected during the initial investigation suggested that the incident involved a high-speed pursuit. Investigators determined that Harvey’s vehicle was being chased by two other cars prior to the shooting: a dark-colored sedan, believed to be a Chevrolet Impala, and a black Chrysler PT Cruiser. The occupants of these pursuing vehicles reportedly fired multiple shots at the Pontiac as it traveled along Hull Place, resulting in visible ballistic damage to the rear and passenger-side doors of the victim's car.
Despite the specific descriptions of the vehicles involved, no suspects were immediately apprehended in connection with the shooting. The case has remained open and unsolved for years, with authorities unable to secure arrests or identify the specific individuals responsible for the murder.
