Bryan Chisom Njoku, a 22-year-old African American male from Houston, Texas, tragically lost his life on September 7, 2020. He was born on December 6, 1996, and grew up in Houston, attending local schools before graduating from Stephen Austin High School. He later pursued higher education at Texas A&M and the University of Houston, where he graduated with a degree in Public Health.
At the time of his death, Bryan was completing an internship and was passionate about becoming a personal trainer.
On the night of his death, Bryan was involved in an altercation outside his apartment complex at 8811 Gustine Lane. According to reports, he and another man were heard arguing before the incident occurred. Bryan was found suffering from gunshot wounds by a security guard who was administering first aid when the police arrived. Despite efforts to save him, Bryan was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The suspect in Bryan's murder, Ofon Phillip Idiong, a 22-year-old male, was arrested and charged with murder on September 9, 2020. Idiong initially fled the scene but returned and was subsequently charged for his role in Bryan's death. The case was handled by the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, and charges were filed in the 337th State District Court.
