Alturion Banks, a 19-year-old African American male from Houston, Texas, tragically lost his life on December 22, 2019. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 2 a.m., in the parking lot of Headliners Sports Bar located at 9804 Jones Road, northwest of Jersey Village. Alturion Banks, along with another victim, Diego Barrera, was shot while they were inside a car.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, but it is known that the two men had met with the alleged shooter, Jason Cisneros, earlier that morning.
Jason Cisneros, a 26-year-old male, was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Alturion Banks and Diego Barrera. Cisneros has a history of previous convictions, including a sentence of eight years in prison in 2015 for failure to stop and render aid involving injury. He is currently being held in Harris County Jail without bond. During the investigation, authorities discovered that Cisneros had met with Banks and Barrera at the sports bar, but the motive behind the shooting remains uncertain.
In addition to Cisneros, another suspect, Xavier Fletcher, an 18-year-old male from Houston, was also charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting. Fletcher was arrested on February 7, 2020, seven weeks after the incident. During a probable cause hearing, it was revealed that Barrera was shot nine times and Banks six times. Surveillance footage showed the accused gunmen meeting the victims at the sports bar and later entering Barrera's car. An altercation ensued, and gunfire erupted from the rear passenger side of the vehicle, where Cisneros was seen entering. After the shooting, Fletcher and Cisneros were seen pushing over Barrera as if searching for something. Fletcher was later dropped off at a hospital by Cisneros for a gunshot wound to his hand, where police questioned him and found inconsistencies in his story.
The investigation into the deaths of Alturion Banks and Diego Barrera is ongoing, with both Cisneros and Fletcher being held without bond in Harris County Jail. The case has drawn attention due to the violent nature of the crime and the involvement of multiple suspects with prior criminal records. The families of the victims continue to seek justice for their loved ones as the legal proceedings unfold.
