On the evening of March 4, 2015, police in Kansas City, Missouri, were dispatched to a residential neighborhood following reports of gunfire. Around 11:27 p.m., officers arrived at the scene near 1831 E. 68th Terrace, where they discovered a 30-year-old White male named Marc Matherson lying in the street. He was found positioned next to a tan-colored vehicle and had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders immediately transported Matherson to a nearby hospital for treatment
