On a summer night in St. Louis, the life of 33-year-old Willie Porter, a Black male, was tragically cut short. In the early hours of June 16, 2015, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 8700 block of North Broadway. Upon arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Porter and another man, 37-year-old Larry McGee, had both been shot multiple times.
McGee was found to have succumbed to gunshot wounds to his chest and back at the scene.
Porter, however, was still alive when officers arrived, suffering from gunshot wounds to his face and shoulder. He was immediately transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical personnel, Willie Porter later died from his injuries.
The double homicide rocked the community, leaving friends and family to mourn the loss of two lives. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department initiated an investigation into the killings.
