In the early hours of Mardi Gras weekend in St. Louis, Missouri, a tragic discovery was made that would leave a family and community searching for answers. Vincent Guy Cascella, a 24-year-old Caucasian male, was found deceased on February 15, 2015. His life was cut short in a brutal act of violence that continues to baffle investigators.
Around 3:15 a.m., the St. Louis Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the 4000 block of McRee Avenue.
After extinguishing the flames engulfing a silver Pontiac Grand Am, firefighters found Cascella's body inside. It was soon determined that he had been shot multiple times before the car was set ablaze. The vehicle was reportedly distinctive, adorned with various posters and stickers. The last known sighting of Cascella was in the vicinity of Cherokee Street and Iowa Avenue, an area he was known to frequent.
The investigation into Vincent Cascella's death has unfortunately not led to any arrests, and his case is now listed among the city's unsolved homicides. In the wake of his death, his family has offered a substantial reward of $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. This is in addition to a $5,000 reward offered through CrimeStoppers. Despite these efforts and the passage of time, no suspects have been publicly identified, and the motive behind this violent act remains a mystery.
