In the late summer of 2015, the life of 36-year-old Danielle M. Wilson was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Missouri. A mother of nine, her body was discovered in an alley near the intersection of East 29th Street and Myrtle Avenue by a resident on August 14, 2015. It was apparent that she had been deceased for several days before being found.
Investigators determined that Wilson had suffered from blunt force trauma and had also been shot, with her death being ruled a homicide.
Law enforcement officials believe that she was not killed in the alley where her body was discovered, but rather slain at a different location and her body subsequently moved there.
Danielle, who grew up in Higginsville, Missouri, was remembered by her family as a woman who 'marched to her own beat.' She had a background in nursing and retail and was a mother to nine children. Her family also shared that she had been battling a drug addiction and had sought treatment for it.
Years have passed since her death, but the case remains unsolved. In November 2021, six years after her death, her family and the Kansas City Police Department held a news conference to ask for the public's help in generating new leads. During the conference, a homicide detective revealed that they have a person of interest in the case but lack sufficient evidence to move forward with a prosecution. The family pleaded for anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, to come forward to help bring them a sense of closure and justice for Danielle. The pain of her loss remains fresh for her loved ones, particularly her children, who have had to navigate significant life milestones without their mother. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Danielle M. Wilson.
