Abdul Mohamed, an 18-year-old male, tragically lost his life on May 14, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas. He was involved in a late-night traffic accident on Amarillo Boulevard and Polk Street, where he sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Abdul succumbed to his injuries.
The Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation into the incident.
Within days, two suspects, 19-year-old Nsengiyumva Anderson and 17-year-old Camelo Ryheem Harris, were arrested and taken into custody. Anderson was apprehended by the SWAT team, while Harris turned himself in. Both were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
However, three other suspects remained at large: Alau Akot Maduak, Kuol Wek Deng Akol, and Makuc David Makuc, all 19 years old. The police issued warrants for their arrests and urged anyone with information to come forward. Makuc David Makuc was specifically wanted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The investigation continued as the police sought to bring the remaining suspects to justice. The community was encouraged to provide any tips or information that could aid in the case, with the promise of anonymity for those who came forward.
