On June 12, 2021, 17-year-old Joshua Smith was tragically killed in a shooting on Fort Worth's North Side. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Denver Avenue, where Joshua was shot in the torso and later transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately did not survive his injuries. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office confirmed his identity.
