On June 19, 2021, Hugo Mendoza, a 29-year-old man from Pampa, Texas, tragically lost his life. Initially, it was reported that Mendoza had accidentally shot himself. However, after a thorough investigation by the Pampa Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division, it was determined that Mendoza was actually shot by his cousin, Alan Abisaie Arambula, 25, also of Pampa.
Alan Arambula was arrested and charged with Criminal Negligent Homicide.
According to court documents, Arambula allegedly shot Mendoza while playing with a firearm. The case is still under investigation, and an autopsy was ordered to further examine the circumstances surrounding Mendoza's death.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:52 p.m. on Russell Street in Pampa. Mendoza was taken to the Pampa Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation revealed that multiple people at the scene were interviewed, and it was Arambula's actions that led to Mendoza's death.
Arambula was indicted for Criminally Negligent Homicide and his bond was set at $50,000. The case continues to be investigated by the authorities, and further legal proceedings are expected to take place.
