On August 17, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Pampa Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of Beech Lane in Pampa, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds: 21-year-old Isaac Martin and a 16-year-old male whose identity has not been disclosed due to his age. Both victims were transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, where Martin succumbed to his injuries.
The juvenile victim was treated and listed in stable condition.
The Pampa Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit, in collaboration with the Texas Rangers, initiated an investigation into the incident. Later that day, 20-year-old Jaden Wagner of Pampa was located and detained in Borger, Texas. He was subsequently charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and booked into the Hutchinson County Jail.
On August 20, 2024, a second arrest was made in connection with the case. A 16-year-old male was apprehended and charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm. Due to his status as a juvenile, his identity has not been released. He was remanded to the custody of the Gray County Juvenile Probation Department.
In October 2024, a Gray County Grand Jury indicted Wagner on charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and theft of a firearm, formalizing the legal proceedings against him.
Isaac Martin, born on October 15, 2002, in Evansville, Indiana, moved to Pampa in 2017 to complete his education. He was known for his love of football, music, and spending time with family and friends. Just two days before his death, Isaac accepted Christ as his Savior, a decision that brought him immense happiness. He is survived by his mother, stepfather, siblings, and fiancée. Funeral services were held on August 22, 2024, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa.
An online memorial has been established in Isaac's honor, where friends and family have shared memories and condolences, underscoring the impact he had on those around him.
