Antonio Woods, 37, was found in the street on a Wednesday morning in north St. Louis, after police were called to the 4900 block of Emerson, just north of Interstate 70.
By the time officers arrived, the scene had already turned grim: Woods was lying out in the open, and police said he had been shot. With the city counting it as its latest murder, the case was routed to homicide detectives, who began working the neighborhood around Emerson for answers—what led him there, who had been
with him, and who might have seen the shooting or the moments right before it.
