On November 30, 2015, police in Kansas City, Missouri, were dispatched to a residence on Virginia Avenue following reports of a disturbance. Upon arriving at the scene at approximately 4511 Virginia Avenue, officers discovered the body of 58-year-old William Maze, a Black male, lying in the front yard of the home. Emergency responders assessed the situation, but he was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined that the victim had sustained a fatal stab wound during the altercation. A witness in the vicinity reported hearing the sounds of a scuffle involving the victim just before the discovery of his body. This witness also observed an unidentified suspect fleeing from the residence immediately after the struggle, disappearing before law enforcement could arrive.
Despite the witness account and the response from the Kansas City Police Department, no suspect has been publicly identified in connection with the homicide. The case remains classified as unsolved, with no arrests made or charges filed. Detectives have continued to seek information from the public to identify the individual seen leaving the scene, but the investigation has not yet resulted in a conviction.
