On December 15, 2015, officers in St. Louis, Missouri, responded to a call reporting a "man down" at 4400 Kennerly Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Antonio Devonte Perkins, age 18, lying face down on the sidewalk. He was unconscious but still breathing at that time and had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Despite medical attention, Perkins succumbed to his injuries on September 18, 2016, after a prolonged struggle to survive.
