Scotty Stephens, a 25-year-old male from Waco, Texas, tragically passed away on October 24, 2021. He was attending a trail ride party when he was shot by Deotis Gray, a 24-year-old suspect. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. at the 5400 block of Orchard Lane. Gray allegedly used an AK-47 to open fire on Stephens, who was fatally injured. Stephens was also struck by a fleeing vehicle as he was shot.
Following the shooting, the McLennan County Sheriff's Office arrested Gray on October
26, 2021. Gray was charged with murder and his bond was set at $1 million. The investigation revealed that Gray targeted Stephens, and there may be a connection to another shooting in Waco.
