Giovanie Thompson, a 25-year-old man, was tragically shot and killed on November 21, 2021, outside an apartment complex in southeast Houston, Texas. Thompson had just arrived at the complex with his wife and four young children, including his own child and two children from his wife's previous relationship. As Thompson's wife and three of the children exited the car to visit her mother, Thompson stayed behind with his 2-year-old child.
At that moment, Quinton Jermaine Wilson, the
21-year-old ex-boyfriend of Thompson's wife, approached Thompson and opened fire, striking him multiple times. Witnesses reported that Wilson emerged from the darkness and began shooting at Thompson, who was standing in the parking lot. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Authorities believe that Wilson targeted Thompson in retaliation for a previous shooting incident in which Wilson was the intended target. Wilson, who was already a wanted murderer, fled the scene on foot and has since been charged with murder in connection with Thompson's death. The Houston Police Department has been actively searching for Wilson and has urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
The tragic incident has left Thompson's family and the community in shock, as the shooting occurred in front of Thompson's young child and in a location where his wife and other children were present. The case remains under investigation, and law enforcement continues to seek justice for Thompson's untimely death.
