Ramiro Rodriguez Reyes, a 63-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on September 25, 2019, in Houston, Texas. He and his wife, Rosalba Reyes, were shot and killed in front of their home in northwest Houston as they returned from the hospital after visiting a family member. The couple had been married for nearly 40 years and were well-regarded in their community.
The suspects in this case, Louis Malik Santee and Christian Cavazos, were both members of a violent street gang.
On the night of the incident, Santee and Cavazos mistook the couple's purple Dodge Charger for a rival gang member's vehicle and opened fire. Ramiro was shot while rushing to his wife's side, and both he and Rosalba succumbed to their injuries.
The investigation into the murders was extensive, involving the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the FBI, and other local agencies. Detectives eventually identified Santee and Cavazos as the perpetrators through surveillance footage and other evidence.
