Cornelius Cordell "Studda" Carrington, a 4-year-old boy from Lubbock, Texas, tragically lost his life on December 17, 2021. Cornelius was visiting his father at a house in the 700 block of East Ursuline Street when a drive-by shooting occurred just before 9:00 p.m. He was shot and rushed to a Lubbock hospital, where he later died. The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting, which is believed to have been a senseless act of violence.
Despite extensive
investigations and multiple tips from the community, no arrests have been made in connection with Cornelius's death. The Lubbock Police Department has continued to work on the case, with detectives regularly briefing on the progress. The family and law enforcement have pleaded with the public to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest. A reward of up to $15,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Cornelius was born to Sherill Palmer and Dequante Jackson on October 15, 2017. He was a bright and enthusiastic child who loved going to school and learning. He is remembered fondly by his family, including his mother, father, two brothers, grandmothers, great-grandparents, and many other relatives and friends. The community continues to mourn his loss and seek justice for the young boy.
