On March 23, 2022, Julio Cesar Gutierrez Jr., a 22-year-old Hispanic male from Los Fresnos, Texas, was found lifeless on the side of the road near Highway 100. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Fresnos Police Department responded to calls about a man lying on the road with injuries around 9:30 a.m. Chief Hector Gonzales stated that the investigation was ongoing and that they were working with limited information at the time.
