On October 4, 2022, Jose Angel Bravo, a 41-year-old man from Los Fresnos, Texas, was found dead at a residence on the outskirts of Los Fresnos. Bravo, who was Hispanic, was discovered lying face down in the driveway of the home, with apparent gunshot wounds. Cameron County Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Juan Mendoza Jr. pronounced him dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy.

Through their investigation, they were able to link Normando Uribe, a 26-year-old man, to the crime. Uribe was charged with one count of murder and one count of evading arrest/detention. Uribe attempted to evade arrest initially but was later taken into custody and charged.
Uribe was arrested on October 5, 2022, after being spotted walking near a canal area where he had previously evaded arrest. He was taken into custody and interviewed at the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department office before being booked at the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center. If convicted of the murder charge, Uribe faces 5 to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
