Isaiah Arellano, a 19-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity from Abilene, Texas, tragically lost his life on March 29, 2022. Isaiah was known for his kind heart and love for his family. He was a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, boyfriend, and father to his two sons, Elijah and Isaiah Arellano Jr. He was also expecting his first baby girl, whom he had already named Lailani.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning around 12:46 AM when Isaiah and a 16-year-old
were shot outside a home on the 400 block of South La Salle Drive. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where Isaiah succumbed to his injuries, and the 16-year-old remained in critical condition. The suspects reportedly fled the scene after the shooting.
Following the incident, 20-year-old Aashaud McVea was identified as a suspect. McVea was charged with homicide and aggravated assault. During the investigation, McVea admitted to shooting both victims, claiming the incident occurred after an altercation during a potential narcotics transaction or sale of a firearm. McVea was taken into custody and held on a $300,000 bond.
The case went to trial, and McVea was found guilty of murder in connection with Isaiah's death. On August 21, 2024, McVea was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the murder of Isaiah Arellano.
