On April 16, 2022, 19-year-old Taylor Evans, a young woman from Daingerfield, Texas, tragically lost her life in a shooting incident during an Easter weekend trail ride in Morris County, near Cason, TX. The event took place on FM 144, roughly six miles west of Daingerfield. Taylor was one of four individuals shot that evening, but she was the only one who succumbed to her injuries.
She was taken to Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant but later passed away from her wounds.
The Morris County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and found several gunshot victims around 10 p.m. Taylor's mother, Ashley Padron, recalled the chaos of the night, losing sight of Taylor in the panic but later finding her lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the back. Despite efforts to get to her, Taylor's mother was unable to reach her daughter immediately.
The investigation into Taylor's death remains open, with Morris County Sheriff Jack Martin issuing a plea for help in solving the case. He asked anyone with photos or videos from the event to contact his office. The family has expressed frustration over the lack of information and updates from law enforcement, stating that they have not even received an autopsy report yet. Sheriff Martin emphasized that the case is still under investigation and encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
