Cordney Dawson, a 43-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, tragically lost his life on June 26, 2022. Dawson was fatally shot outside the Tiger Mart in Oak Cliff, Dallas, while trying to prevent a group of teenagers from stealing his truck. He left his truck running while making a purchase at the convenience store and attempted to stop the theft by climbing through the sunroof.
Unfortunately, during this confrontation, one of the teenagers, later identified as Javarian Stranger, shot Dawson, leading to his death at a hospital.
Following the incident, Jeremy Wilson, a 17-year-old, was arrested and charged with capital murder as the alleged getaway driver. Wilson was taken into custody after surveillance videos and witness testimonies helped police identify him and the other suspects involved. However, Javarian Stranger, the teenager believed to have pulled the trigger, remains at large, and authorities are actively seeking his arrest.
Dawson's family and friends have been vocal about their grief and the senselessness of the crime. They celebrated what would have been his 44th birthday with a gathering at a park, remembering him as a loving father and uncle. Despite the arrest of one suspect, the family continues to seek justice and closure, hoping for the capture of the remaining suspect responsible for Dawson's death.
The case has drawn significant attention from the local community and law enforcement, with ongoing efforts to bring the remaining suspect to justice and provide some measure of peace to Dawson's loved ones.
