Luis Enrique Flores, a 28-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, was fatally shot during an altercation in a parking lot on the South Side of San Antonio on July 31, 2022. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. when Flores was shot multiple times after a physical altercation with the shooter, who has not been identified. Witnesses reported that the shooter fled the scene before police arrived, and the investigation is ongoing.
In connection with Flores' death, Jaime Garza, a 24-year-old man,
was arrested after a year-long manhunt. Garza was charged with murder and carjacking in the shooting death of Flores. According to the arrest report, Flores had ordered food from a taco truck and was waiting in his vehicle when he was ambushed by three armed men. Garza and his accomplices allegedly pistol-whipped Flores and shot him multiple times before stealing his vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The investigation led to the arrest of Garza and two other suspects who were part of a theft ring. Garza was taken into custody when he was seen stripping Flores' vehicle at another location. Cell phone records placed Garza at the scene of the crime, and he admitted to being involved in the theft but claimed he did not intend to shoot anyone.
The case is still under investigation, and authorities are continuing to search for additional suspects and gather evidence to build a stronger case against those involved.
