On the evening of August 16, 2016, violence erupted in the North Broadway neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of 27-year-old Christopher D. Cooper, an African-American male. He was seated in his vehicle parked outside The Broadway Laundromat, located at 8847 North Broadway, when an unknown assailant opened fire. Cooper was struck multiple times by the gunfire but managed to exit his car in a desperate attempt to escape the attack. He ran into the nearby laundromat, where he eventually collapsed just inside the entrance.
