Hahn Minh Nguyen, a 63-year-old Vietnamese man, tragically lost his life on October 5, 2022, in Houston, Texas. He was shot to death inside the Tai Loi Restaurant on Bellaire Boulevard along with another man, Long Nguyen, aged 51. The incident occurred around 11 p.m., when two suspects, Bich Xuan Dang and Hieu Trong Nguyen, both aged 49, entered the restaurant armed with handguns and opened fire on the victims who were seated in a booth.
The suspects fled the scene, but were later
identified and arrested. Bich Xuan Dang was taken into custody on October 16, 2022, while Hieu Trong Nguyen was arrested shortly after. Both men were charged with capital murder. The investigation revealed that a stolen white Toyota Camry was used by the suspects, which was seen parked near the restaurant before the shooting.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, but it is believed that the victims were targeted. The suspects had a prior connection to a shooting at another restaurant, Cafe Window, in August 2022, where Bich Xuan Dang had demanded money at gunpoint. The owner of Cafe Window had hired an armed security guard after the incident, which helped diffuse the situation.
Despite the arrests, police are still searching for a third suspect who was involved in the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.
The tragic loss of Hahn Minh Nguyen and Long Nguyen has deeply affected the community, and efforts continue to bring all responsible parties to justice.
