Railroad Detective Thomas Jackson McElhaney, aged 41, was shot and killed in the railroad yards at Cravens Yard in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on the night of October 11, 1908. McElhaney, who was a male of Caucasian ethnicity, served with the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis Railroad Police Department. He was a dedicated officer who left behind a wife and seven children.
