Marshal J. Henry Clemens, a 48-year-old male officer of the Maryville Police Department in Tennessee, tragically lost his life on August 25, 1911. Clemens was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect wanted for assault. He had located the suspect at his home and, as he tried to serve the warrant, the suspect fired at him three times, fatally wounding him. The suspect managed to escape and was never apprehended.
