Redden George Purdie, a 55-year-old male officer of the Shelbyville Police Department in Tennessee, tragically lost his life on October 31, 1911. Officer Purdie, along with his colleague Officer Charles Henry, was shot and killed by a suspect they had arrested earlier that day for drunk and disorderly conduct. After being released on bail, the suspect vowed revenge on the officers. Later that night, he ambushed them, resulting in their deaths.
