In the winter of 2005, a wave of violence shattered the community of Jackson, Tennessee, culminating in the tragic death of 61-year-old Jerry Wayne Hopper. A Caucasian male, Hopper was a respected Forestry Technician for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture's Division of Forestry. On January 11, 2005, while at the Tennessee Department of Transportation facility for a vehicle repair, he found himself in the midst of a horrific workplace shooting.
