In the early morning hours of November 15, 2016, a fatal encounter unfolded at a Phillips 66 convenience store in south Kansas City. Antonio Williams Jr., a 22-year-old man, was shot and killed during an altercation at the gas station located at Bannister Road and Drury Avenue. Another individual was also seriously wounded in the incident.
Responding to reports of the shooting at approximately 12:45 a.m., police discovered a wrecked vehicle in the 9600 block of Drury Avenue. Inside, they found Williams and the second victim, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported both men to a local hospital, where Antonio Williams Jr. was pronounced dead. A witness informed police that a silver vehicle was seen leaving the scene shortly after the shooting.
The investigation into the homicide prompted a focused law enforcement effort by the Kansas City No Violence Alliance on a group referred to as the 'Deion' group or gang. This enforcement action led to a significant development in the case. In March 2017, authorities announced the arrest of a suspect.
William M. Enloe, 20 years old at the time, was charged with Murder in the Second Degree, assault, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action in connection with the death of Antonio Williams Jr. His bond was set at $100,000 cash. The broader crackdown on the 'Deion' group resulted in numerous other arrests of associates and the seizure of multiple firearms and illegal narcotics.
