In the quiet town of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, the life of a 76-year-old Caucasian man, Jack Davis Jr., was brought to a tragic and violent end on the evening of March 29, 2014. The incident unfolded at his residence on Springfield Highway, a place where he was known to conduct business, including the buying and selling of vehicles. It was this very business that authorities believe may have made him a target.
Around 9:15 p.m., the peace of the night was shattered when two masked men,
described as Black males, forced their way into Davis's home. The intruders brandished firearms and immediately demanded money. During the ensuing confrontation, shots were fired, and Davis was fatally wounded. A friend who was with him at the time, 64-year-old John Webb, was also shot but survived his injuries.
Following the deadly home invasion, the two suspects fled the scene in what was described as an older model, light-colored pickup truck with a square front end. A 911 call from the injured Webb alerted authorities, who arrived to find a grim scene. Davis was pronounced dead at his home.
Madison Precinct detectives launched an intensive investigation into the murder, interviewing known associates and individuals who frequented Davis's home. The theory that he was specifically targeted due to the large amounts of cash he was known to keep on hand for his business transactions became a central point of the investigation. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the suspects have remained at large, and no arrests have been made in the case. The community was left in mourning, and the search for those responsible for the violent death of Jack Davis Jr. continues.
