In the autumn of 2015, the life of 19-year-old Tiaria Miller was tragically cut short. On November 13th, the young Black / African American woman from Johnson City, Tennessee, was fatally wounded when the vehicle she was a passenger in was struck by gunfire. The incident unfolded as the car passed by an apartment complex where an altercation was taking place.
The investigation into Miller's death led authorities to Denver Christian Smith. Investigators determined that Smith was involved in a dispute at the apartment and had fired a weapon. One of the bullets from this discharge hit the passing car, killing Miller. In addition to the charges related to Miller's death, Smith was also accused of the attempted murder of another individual at the scene of the initial conflict.
Denver Christian Smith was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder of Tiaria Miller. After legal proceedings, a jury found Smith guilty of first-degree murder in connection with her shooting death. The conviction brought a measure of resolution to the case, holding Smith accountable for the senseless act of violence that ended a young life.
