In the summer of 2017, a tragedy struck Johnson City, Tennessee, cutting short the life of a young woman with her future ahead of her. Rebekah Thompson, a 22-year-old female, was found shot and killed in her car on the evening of July 24th. At the time of her death, she was pregnant, and her infant daughter was also in the vehicle but was unharmed.
The investigation into the death of Rebekah Thompson, who was also known by the name Stacy Magee, was a meticulous and lengthy process that spanned ten months. Detectives with the Johnson City Police Department pursued leads that suggested the premeditated act might have connections to the Chattanooga area. Their efforts culminated in the indictment of four men on charges of first-degree murder: Isiaha Devon Milligan, Avios Alexander Griffin, Monte Lamar Brewer Jr., and Eugene Aireese Glover. Milligan faced additional charges of solicitation of first-degree murder.
As the case moved through the legal system, developments began to emerge. In October 2020, the prosecution dismissed the charges against Avios Alexander Griffin, citing a lack of sufficient evidence to secure a conviction. For the remaining three co-defendants, the path to justice continued. A trial for Isiaha Devon Milligan and Eugene Glover was scheduled to take place in April of 2021. Around the same time, it was reported that Monte Lamar Brewer Jr. was considering a plea agreement, with a court date set to review the potential deal.
