In a tragic turn of events that unfolded in the driveway of her Nashville, Tennessee home, 25-year-old Shanel Bowen, a Black female, lost her life on December 21, 2015. The incident, which took place on Vista Lane in the Trinity Hills area, was determined by Metro Nashville police to be a murder-suicide. Bowen was found fatally shot in the passenger seat of a car.
The perpetrator was identified as Andre Lamonte Parker Sr., who was also the father of Bowen's 8-month-old son.
Parker had also shot and killed his wife, 41-year-old Jacqueline Parker, who was discovered just outside the driver's side of the same vehicle. After killing both women, Andre Parker took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His body was found outside the car.
The day before the tragic incident, Bowen had reported Parker Sr. missing. She and Jacqueline Parker had been working together to find him, concerned for his welfare due to troubling statements he had made on Facebook. Parker Sr. was located in his van late that Sunday night. After an evaluation by mental health professionals, he was not deemed a danger to himself.
However, in the early hours of the following morning, Parker Sr. contacted his oldest son and asked him to come to Bowen's residence. Upon his arrival, the son discovered the devastating scene of his father, mother, and his father's girlfriend all deceased from gunshot wounds. Inside the home, Bowen and Parker Sr.'s infant son, along with another child, were found unharmed. Due to the nature of the murder-suicide, no arrests were made, and there were no other suspects in the case.
