In the early morning hours of a Tuesday in late September of 2016, a domestic disturbance in Southwest Memphis escalated to a fatal conclusion. The incident, which began shortly after 6 a.m. at a concrete company on Ferrell Park Drive, resulted in the shooting death of 36-year-old Willard Green.
Green was transported to the Regional Medical Center following the shooting but did not survive his injuries. He passed away on September 27, 2016.
The shooter, a woman who remained at the scene, was not publicly identified by law enforcement officials.
Following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the authorities determined that the act was a measure of self-defense. Consequently, the shooting was ruled as justifiable homicide, and the woman who shot Green did not face any charges in connection with his death. No arrests were made in the case.
