In the cold of a Memphis evening on February 1, 2022, the life of 27-year-old Danielle Hoyle was tragically cut short. A new mother, she was found shot to death near her abandoned car in the Whitehaven neighborhood. Just two days earlier, she had given birth to a baby girl, Kennedy Hoyle, an infant who was nowhere to be found when her mother's body was discovered.
The chain of events that led to this grim discovery began to unfold as investigators delved into Danielle's final hours.
Family members reported that Danielle had left her home with her newborn, intending to meet the baby's father, 25-year-old Brandon Isabelle. When Danielle could not be reached, concern grew, culminating in the police finding her vehicle with a broken window and her body nearby, bearing a gunshot wound to the head. An AMBER Alert was promptly issued for the missing 2-day-old Kennedy. The investigation quickly focused on Isabelle, who was in a relationship with another woman and had allegedly urged Danielle to have an abortion.
Under questioning, Brandon Isabelle confessed to a horrific sequence of events. He admitted to luring Danielle to a secluded area and shooting her. Following the murder, he took their infant daughter, Kennedy, drove to the Upper Mud Island Boat Ramp, and threw the baby into the Mississippi River. He also disposed of the murder weapon in the river. Despite extensive searches, Kennedy Hoyle's body was never recovered. Investigators later found the baby's car seat abandoned near a Walmart dumpster. Isabelle's motive, as he allegedly told detectives, was that he did not want the child. After committing these acts, he went to a Walgreens to purchase gifts for his other girlfriend.
Brandon Isabelle was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Danielle and Kennedy Hoyle, as well as aggravated child abuse and especially aggravated kidnapping. In September 2022, a grand jury indicted him on these charges. His trial commenced in September 2025. In October 2025, a Shelby County jury found Brandon Isabelle guilty on all counts. The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole for the two murders. He was later sentenced to an additional 45 years for the other charges. During the sentencing, a victim impact statement from Danielle's sister expressed the profound devastation her family experienced, turning what should have been the happiest time of their lives into their worst nightmare.
