On January 1, 2017, 18-year-old Kiara Tatum, an African American female and student at LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Parkway Village. Kiara was standing outside a home when shots were fired into a crowd by two men in a white car. She was described by friends and family as a vibrant, aspiring pediatric nurse who was always the life of the party.
