In the early hours of a Thursday morning in Nashville, Tennessee, a family dispute escalated into a tragedy that would irrevocably tear two brothers apart. Inside their Pierpoint Drive home, 37-year-old Kevin Ross, a male, was shot and killed on May 24, 2018. The events of that morning were set in motion by a heated argument between Kevin and his younger brother, Kameron Ross, who was 24 at the time.
Their mother, who was also in the house, was thrust into a horrifying situation when the argument culminated in gunfire.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., the brothers' mother made a frantic call to the police, reporting that one of her sons had shot the other. When authorities arrived, they found Kevin Ross deceased from his injuries. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Kameron Ross fled the scene, prompting a search by Metro Nashville Police, which included the use of K9 units. The search for the younger brother, however, did not last long. In a surprising turn of events, Kameron Ross returned to the family home a few hours later, around 5:15 a.m., and surrendered to the waiting officers. He then led investigators to the location where he had hidden the firearm used in the incident.
Following his surrender, Kameron Ross was arrested and faced serious charges for the death of his brother. He was initially charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, indicating a prior criminal history. The case then moved through the justice system. The initial charge of first-degree murder was ultimately amended, and on April 15, 2021, Kameron Ross was convicted of the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter. The court records indicate the case is now closed, bringing a legal conclusion to the violent end of Kevin Ross's life at the hands of his own brother.
