Djbril Sy, a 23-year-old African male, tragically lost his life on August 3, 2018, in Memphis, Tennessee. Djbril, affectionately known as "Jibby" by his family, had taken on the role of head of the household after his father was severely beaten with a baseball bat in 2012, leaving him with brain damage. The Sy family had moved to Memphis from West Africa in search of the American Dream, but their journey was marred by heartbreak and tragedy.
